Great Wall’s premium WEY brand introduced the upmarket Mocha mid-size crossover with an Ambarella System on Chip vision system.

Santa Clara, California AI vision silicon company, Ambarella, Inc., is supplying its CV25AQ CVflow AI vision processor to Great Wall Motor Co. Ltd. for the WEY Mocha crossover SUV. The System on Chip (SoC) provides a variety of simultaneous, multi-camera channel combinations for recording and/or in-cabin sensing, with the entire system meeting Euro NCAP 2025 safety standards.

The automotive-qualified AEC-Q100 Grade 2 Ambarella CV25AQ will serve as part of Great Wall’s “Coffee Intelligence” AI driving platform, which comprises Intelligent Cockpit Systems, Intelligent Drive, and Intelligent Automotive Electronic and Electrical Architecture Technology. WEY is Great Wall Motors’ premium brand, named after company founder Wei Jianjun.

“Ambarella and GWM have a strong history of successful collaboration, with several generations of vision systems already in production for a variety of car models,” said Fermi Wang, CEO of Ambarella. “Our companies worked together even more closely to develop this new Ambarella CVflow-based multi-channel AI vision system.”

Ambarella’s processors are used in a wide variety of human and computer vision applications, including video security, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), electronic mirrors, drive recorders, driver/cabin monitoring, autonomous driving, and robotic applications. The company’s low-power SoCs like the CV25AQ CVflow AI vision processor provides high-resolution video compression, advanced image processing, and powerful deep neural network processing to enable intelligent cameras to extract important data from high-resolution video streams.

The CV25AQ is fabricated in 10 nm process technology, contributing to its combination of low power and high performance in both human vision and computer vision applications. It is suitable for running multi-channel digital video recorders, single- or dual-channel electronic mirrors with recording capabilities, and driver or in-cabin monitoring cameras.

The SoC’s ability to process video at 6MP resolution permits accurate image recognition over long distances, according to Ambarella.

The CV25AQ’s image signal processor (ISP) excels in low-light conditions, while its high dynamic range (HDR) processing extracts maximum image detail in high-contrast scenes, to further enhance the chip’s computer vision capabilities.

Security is built in with a suite of features such as secure boot with TrustZone and secure memory, true random number generator, one-time programmable memory, DRAM scrambling and virtualization, and a programmable secure level for each peripheral interface.
